Refunded means that a confirmed payment returned money to the customer. The status appears after you (or your integration) started the refund from an operation that was in Paid.

Full or partial

  • Full refund: the full amount of the operation is returned. The payment is marked as Refunded and the sale is considered reversed.
  • Partial refund: only part of it is returned — for example, one item from a multi-item order. The operation shows the refunded amount and the amount you kept, and it can accumulate more than one partial refund until the total is covered.

Where to track its progress

Open the payment details: in the related transactions you'll see each refund with its date, its amount, and its own status (in progress, applied, or failed). An operation showing Refunded doesn't mean the customer already sees the money — their bank may take a few additional business days to reflect it.

What it means for your money

  • The refunded amount is deducted from your Conekta balance.
  • If your available balance isn't enough, the adjustment is reflected in your upcoming payouts.
  • The transaction appears labeled as a refund in your reports, linked to the original payment.

Possible next status

A full refund closes the operation's lifecycle. After a partial refund, the operation remains active for the remaining amount and accepts additional refunds. For a step-by-step guide to a refund, see How to check the status of a refund.
