Pay-in-installments options — such as Aplazo and Creditea — let the buyer split their purchase into installments even if they don't have a credit card. A financing provider evaluates and approves the buyer on the spot, and you receive the payment like a regular sale.

Why it matters

Many buyers in Mexico don't have a credit card. Offering installments without a card expands your market and helps close high-ticket sales that wouldn't happen as a single upfront payment.

The buyer's journey

  • Chooses the installments option: at checkout, the buyer selects Aplazo or Creditea as the payment method.
  • Identifies themselves with the provider: they create an account or log in with the financing provider, usually with their phone and an ID.
  • Instant evaluation: the provider approves or declines the financing on the spot, with no paperwork for your business.
  • Confirms their payment plan: the buyer accepts the installment schedule — biweekly or monthly, depending on the provider — and completes the purchase.

How you receive the payment

For your business, the sale behaves like any approved payment: it appears in the Conekta Panel and enters your payout schedule for the sale amount minus fees. The financing provider takes on the risk of collecting the installments: if the buyer falls behind, the sale isn't deducted from you.

What you should do

Check that these options are enabled on your account and turn them on in your checkout. To compare them with MSI (interest-free installments) on credit cards, see How interest-free installments work.
