An account group is a way to organize your portfolio within the Partner Center: you gather several accounts under one name — by region, by vertical, by account executive — and then use that group to filter views and to limit your team's access.

Why it matters

As your portfolio grows, two problems appear at the same time: finding the relevant accounts among dozens, and keeping the whole team from seeing everything. Groups solve both: they organize the view and act as an access boundary per user.

How they work

  • Organization: each account can belong to one or more groups; groups appear as a filter in the portfolio and performance views.
  • Access control: when inviting or editing a user, you can restrict them to one or more groups; that person will only see the accounts in their groups.
  • Maintenance: administrators can create, rename, and reorganize groups without affecting the accounts' operations.

Example

An agency with clients in two verticals creates the groups Restaurants and Ecommerce. The restaurants account executive is restricted to their group, management sees both, and performance reports are viewed by vertical with one click.

What to do now

Define groups that reflect how your team works and assign them when inviting users — the details are in How to invite users to the Partner Center.
