Every operation you process with Conekta goes through an automatic risk analysis before it's completed. Its goal is twofold: stop fraud attempts that would end in chargebacks and let your legitimate customers through without friction.
What the system analyzes
The analysis combines multiple signals from each operation — payment characteristics, behavior patterns, history, and data consistency — and evaluates them together in fractions of a second. No single signal decides on its own: it's the combination that determines the risk level.
The three possible results
- Approved: the operation shows no relevant risk signals and continues its normal flow. This is the case for the vast majority.
- In review: some signals call for additional verification before the result is confirmed.
- Declined: the combination of signals indicates high risk and the operation is not processed, to protect you from a likely chargeback.
What you need to do
The system runs on its own — you don't have to configure it or step in operation by operation. Your part is following good practices: correct contact details on every charge, 3DS authentication when applicable, and the measures in How to reduce the risk of chargebacks. Automatic controls and a clean operation reinforce each other.
