A bank transfer payment lets your customer pay from their own bank's app or online banking, without a card. Conekta generates unique payment details for each operation and, when the bank transfer arrives, the payment is confirmed automatically in your Conekta Panel.

Why it's useful

In Mexico, many people prefer to pay via SPEI: it doesn't require a card, works from any bank, and the money moves in minutes. For your business, it means fewer lost sales from customers without cards or with declined cards.

How the flow works

  1. The payment details are generated: when bank transfer is chosen, Conekta creates a unique CLABE or reference linked to that operation. It's not your business's general account: it identifies that particular payment.
  2. The customer transfers: from their online banking, they enter the CLABE and the exact amount, and send the bank transfer like any SPEI.
  3. The payment is confirmed: when the bank settles the bank transfer, Conekta automatically matches it to the operation and the status changes from Pending to Paid. It usually takes a few minutes.

What to expect as a merchant

  • Until the customer makes the transfer, the operation remains Pending.
  • The payment details have an expiration: if they expire without receiving the bank transfer, the operation changes to Expired.
  • Once Paid, the amount goes into your balance and follows the normal payout cycle.
