Apple Pay and Google Pay are wallets: they store the buyer's cards on their device and let them pay without entering any details. For your business they're regular card payments; what changes is the buyer's experience — faster and with less friction.

What the buyer sees when paying

  1. Chooses the wallet: the Apple Pay or Google Pay button appears in the checkout alongside the other payment methods.
  2. Selects their card: the wallet shows the cards they already have saved; they pick one without typing numbers or dates.
  3. Authenticates: they confirm the payment by unlocking their device — Face ID, fingerprint, or passcode. That verification replaces manually entering details.
  4. Receives confirmation: the payment is processed instantly, like any card charge.

What happens to the card information

The wallet never shares the real card number: the payment travels with a token — an encrypted identifier that only works for that card in that wallet. Neither your business nor Conekta sees the full number, which reduces the risk of data theft and fraud.

What the buyer should do if something fails

If the wallet doesn't appear or the payment doesn't go through, it's almost always an issue with the device, the browser, or the saved card. Share Why a wallet doesn't appear as a payment option with your team to diagnose it quickly.
