A webhook is an automatic notice Conekta sends to your system the moment something relevant happens in your account. Instead of your website asking over and over "have they paid yet?", Conekta lets it know as soon as it happens.

Why it matters

Many payments aren't confirmed instantly: a SPEI bank transfer may arrive hours later, and a cash payment, days after the reference is generated. The webhook is what lets your store mark the order as paid as soon as the money arrives, without anyone watching the Conekta Panel.

How it works

  • Your developer registers a URL in your system as the destination for notifications.
  • When an event occurs — a payment is credited, a refund goes through, a chargeback arrives — Conekta sends a message with the event data to that URL.
  • Your system receives the message and reacts: it updates the order, notifies the customer, or records the transaction.
  • If your system doesn't respond, Conekta retries sending it for a period of time so the notice isn't lost.

Example

A customer pays in cash with a reference. Two days later they go to the store and pay. At that moment Conekta fires the payment-credited event to your system, your store marks the order as paid, and the customer receives their confirmation — with no manual intervention.

What you need to do

If you have your own integration or a plugin, ask your developer to configure webhooks following the technical guide at developers.conekta.com. To understand when they're worth it, continue with Why I need webhooks if I can already check the Panel.
