Cash payments let you charge customers who don't have a card or prefer not to use one online: you generate a reference, the customer pays it at a participating store, and Conekta confirms the payment. In Mexico, it's still one of the most widely used payment methods.

The flow in three moments

  • 1. You generate the reference: when you create the charge (through a Payment Link, Checkout, or an integration), the customer chooses cash and receives a reference with the exact amount and its due date.
  • 2. The customer pays: they present the reference at the register of a participating store — convenience chains and participating businesses nationwide — and pay in cash.
  • 3. Conekta confirms: when the store reports the payment, the operation changes to Paid in your Conekta Panel and the amount is added to your balance. You can turn on notifications to find out right away.

What to expect in terms of timing

Confirmation isn't always instant: depending on the store, it may show up within a few minutes or take longer to be reported. Meanwhile, the operation remains Pending — this is the normal behavior of this method, not a failure.

Why it's worth offering

A significant share of customers in Mexico don't use cards for online purchases. Offering cash alongside cards and bank transfers expands your reach without changing your operation: all payments arrive in the same Conekta Panel and the same payouts.
